President’s Corner
June 2025
First things first, I’d like to wish all of the Dad’s a Happy Father’s Day
and I hope that everyone is having a great start to their summer. Since our last meeting as well as elections in April we held our Summer Board Meeting. A BIG thank you to 2nd Vice-President Brent Salamone who opened his home to host the meeting. I’d also like to welcome Nick DeMarco, our new secretary, to the executive board as well as thank all advisors, director’s and past Presidents who were able to attend. The meeting was very productive, we were able to address several items such as membership, club events, social media, treasury and topics that we’d like to cover this year.
By now you should have received your invitation to this years Summer Picnic which is back due to popular demand. We hope that you’ll be able to join us on Sunday, August 3rd in Ridge. Special thanks to AJ Pearsall who recommended the new location and will also be co-chairing the picnic with 1st Vice-President Kate Sohm. If you’re interested in helping them out feel free to contact either one of them. We also have some other summer activities that are in the works, more details to come. All members will be notified via email as activties get added to the calendar, but if you “don’t do email” let me know and we can find another way to keep you in the loop. Our goal with any club event is to get the word out and provide as much time as possible so members can get involved. These are some of the “perks” of being a member of South Shore Waterfowler’s Association.
Monthly meetings, which will resume in September, will continue to take place at the VFW Hall located at 330 N. Dunton Avenue in East Patchogue, the same location as last year. Membership renewal and your dues will also be due at that time. They can be paid in person at the meeting, or a check can be mailed to our PO BOX and processed by Curt just like in the past. Something I’d also like everyone to start thinking about between now and September are recruiting new members. The health and pulse to any club is its membership, the stronger our membership the more we can accomplish. Once we resume our regularly scheduled meetings in September we’ll share the details of an incentivized membership drive.
Speaking for myself and the Executive Board, we’re all looking forward to making this another great year at SSWA. We’re always interested in new ideas so if you have any please share them, this is YOUR CLUB. If you’re interested in getting involved or getting some type of club event scheduled, please contact me or another board member so we can talk about it. Make sure you check out www.sswa.org to keep up to date.
I hope to see you all at the picnic on August 3rd.
